I found this and thought it would be nice/cool to have this feature added on the modem / tracker via another serial or main serial pins ...
Ability to send the location to this W2APRS app that would be displayed on Google Maps via USB OTG ..
http://www.qsl.net/ja7ude/SmartPhone/w2aprs/indexe.html
The app support bluetooth or USB Serial ( Prolific, Silicon Lab and FTDI )
Garmin NMEA format
http://aprs.gids.nl/nmea/#wpl
From the website, the W2APRS app can decode both the aprs and waypoint data ...
Any feedback, suggestions, comments or discussion on this matter ?

Hello Stanley,
"W2APRS" indeed seems to be very interesting and its looking like not only simple waypoint protocols type "WPL" will be decoded, but also extended ( Kennwood- ) protocols type "PKWDWPL". Those are containing some more useful data like e.g. different APRS icons.
Besides its looking like decoding standard APRS data and compressed MIC-E data also is supported. So in our case, after decoding incoming AFSK data by help of LibAPRS, it should be quite easy, converting contents into e.g. standard APRS format or maybe "PKWDWPL" for sending it towards ANDROID Smartphone.
A lot more info than on W2APRS English language page can be found on original Japanese page:
http://www.qsl.net/ja7ude/SmartPhone/w2aprs/index.html
( I am using Google Chrome Browser and after clicking right mouse button. there is some link appearing, where language translation of entire contents is very easy ).

Hello,
after modifying the sample sketch out of Mark's new LibAPRS a little bit, it is providing complete APRS protocols for use under e.g. "W2APRS" on Android Smartphones. Supported are standard as well as also Mic-E compressed types of protocols.
According to settings of my Bluetooth adaptor, for this i did change outgoing baudrate to 9600bps.

NEW:
There is a new version of W2APRS with supporting OSM Maps:
http://www.qsl.net/ja7ude/SmartPhone/w2 … ndexe.html
This especially is interesting in cases where no Internet is available or shall not be used.
Meanwhile OSM version can be installed in parallel with version using Google Online Maps.
